Being of Letters and Code
Felt letters and numbers on newsprint, 12x 18 inches
This piece represents to me how people in modern society are so made up of a digital image of ourselves that that actual words used to describe us can be hidden in shadow. It is inspired by Henri Matisse and his collage art work called The Cut Outs and his method of using bold solid colours and his heavy use of royal blue. I like his smooth curved figures and I wanted to make a piece that was reminiscent of his while including more basic detail and shadow.
